1704. Armed Forces V-J Program. September 2, 1945. Pool feed, AFRS origination. The program begins with an invocation by Army Chaplain Luther Miller, followed by Dinah Shore singing, "America The Beautiful." Bill Maudlin (the famous cartonist) introduces Bob Hope, who reads a column by Ernie Pyle about "Victory." Frank Sinatra sings, "The House I Live In." Bing announces that this program is being heard in the United States as well as the AFRS. A Pfc., just back from overseas, introduces the President of the United States. The program ends with a prayer by Navy Chaplain William N. Thomas. Bing Crosby, Dinah Shore, Bob Hope, Frank Sinatra, Frances Langford, Orson Welles, Harry Truman, The Armed Forces Radio Service Orchestra, Meredith Willson (conductor), William N. Thomas, Luther Miller, Bill Mauldin. 1/2 hour. Audio condition: Excellent. Complete.
