75916. Berliner Funkstude. March 18, 1930. RRG Berlin origination. "Der Lindberghflug". An operatic music composition. In German, the libretto is based on the 1927 solo trans-Atlantic flight of Charles Lindbergh. The recording was apparently made for rebroadcast by the BBC and French radio as brief summaries can be heard in English and French with a heavy German accent. The opera is also referred to as, "Der Oceanflug." This work was rebroadcast in 1969 on East German radio as, "Ein Lehrstrueck Feur Knaben Und Maedchen." The story was re-worked to make it appear as if the event was a triumph for Communism. Lindbergh's name is not even mentioned (possibly because of his admiration for the Nazis). See cat. #100874 for this rebroadcast. Kurt Weill (composer), Bertolt Brecht (composer), Paul Hindemith (composer). 19:29. Audio condition: Excellent. Excerpt.
