83992. Connecticut River Bridge Disaster. December 4, 1941. WTIC, Hartford, Connecticut. Sustaining. A section of the bridge under construction collapsed into the river with a crane. Thirty workers were on the bridge, thirty have been rescued so far. A witness describes the accident. Two reports from the west bank of the river are heard by shortwave. The recording is not dated, but a bridge over the Conne4cticut river did collapse on the above date, killing sixteen men. Bob Steel (reporter), George Bowe (announcer). 15:51.
